How to Spot a Fake Rolex

If you are in the market for a genuine Rolex watch, it can be quite hard to decide between the different kinds of Rolex watches since they are all so beautiful! However, you also have to keep in mind that there are also a lot of counterfeits and fake Rolex watches that you need to be careful! Some of them costing at only a few dollars and being sold at almost the retail price of a real one is something that is being done more and more often so here are a few tips on how to spot a fake Rolex watch;

tip #1: If it isn't perfect, its not a genuine Rolex.

If you notice simple things like the cases being badly machined, the dials having unclear/fuzzy numbers, hands are clunky and so on, chance is are, its fake. A Rolex watch is just drop dead perfect and you pay for what you get so if you spot any imperfection, cheap or unclear markings or anything that looks of bad quality, stay away!

tip#2: Rolex cyclops is always 2.5x magnification.

The Cyclops is the little magnifier that you will find on Rolexes that will magnify the date. It has pretty much been a trademark of Rolex since 1954 although some Rolex do not have them. If they do, it will always be a clear 2.5x magnification while 99% of fakes are all around 1.5x. To tell the difference between both at the blink of an eye you simply have to look and see if the date is clearly readable or if you don't see it as clearly(a bid small still). As mentioned from the above, a Rolex is perfect and you shouldn't have a hard time to decipher the date.

tip#3:glued on or no crown on winding stem

Another way of telling from the blink of an eye whether its a fake or a genuine Rolex is by the crown on the winding stem. A counterfeit will whether have a glued on crown cap on or not have one at all. A real Rolex will have a beautifully crafted crown on it and is not some sort of cap or anything.

tip#3: No tick noise

Contrary to popular beliefs, some people use to think Rolex do not tick, they only have a sweeping motion, well that's not true. In fact, some Rolex also have the ticking motion and as for the sweep, its not a full constant sweep its actually an 8 beats per second. Now here's the difference between a real and a fake; when it ticks, if you can hear the ticking, its fake. If you can't hear anything, its a Rolex.

tip#4: Buy Rolex Watches at an official Rolex distributor.

Since counterfeits are just becoming better and better, their manufacturers are always fixing their errors and since there are just too much to elaborate on what a fake Rolex has and hasn't the best and safest way to buy a Genuine Rolex and be sure that you are not getting screwed is simply to buy it off an official Rolex distributor. If you are going to spend all that money on buying a watch, don't try and find the best bargain since a lot of people are going to try and sell you a counterfeit. There are numbers of different distributors including Time and Gems which have very competitive pricing and also sells used Rolex which can be bought for cheaper than a new one.
